01 About Aludel

Your constraints change.
Your solution should too.

Aludel is a specialist software and consulting firm helping organisations make better decisions in complex operational environments.

We combine decision optimisation, constraint programming and symbolic AI to turn difficult planning, rostering, timetabling and routing problems into practical, high-impact systems.

Every engagement starts with the real shape of the problem: its objectives, trade-offs and constraints. We work closely with customers to build bespoke models, then evolve them as their operations change. The result is decision-making software grounded in rigorous methods and designed for long-term use, hosted on infrastructure certified to SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.

01

Model the real problem

We start by modelling your operational reality, rather than forcing it into an off-the-shelf approximation.

02

Optimise with confidence

Rigorous methods make objectives and trade-offs explicit, explainable and testable.

03

Evolve continuously

Models grow with your organisation as priorities, data and constraints change.

02 The team

Deep expertise,
applied thoughtfully.

Dr Özgür Akgün

Özgür is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Impact in the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews. His work centres on constraint programming, automated constraint modelling and the application of optimisation to real-world problems across logistics, economics and computing.

He is a lead developer of Conjure, a system that turns high-level problem specifications into solver-ready constraint models. At Aludel, Özgür brings this research depth to the design of practical, adaptable decision systems.

Co-founder

Prof Ian Miguel

Ian is Professor and Head of the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews. He has worked in artificial intelligence for more than 25 years, specialising in combinatorial optimisation through constraint programming and related solving technologies.

His research has helped establish automated constraint modelling pipelines that compile expressive problem descriptions into powerful solvers. At Aludel, Ian applies that expertise to planning, scheduling and routing challenges at operational scale.
